Browns Agriculture Division is the founding business of Browns & Company PLC, a conglomerate with a rich history spanning over 140 years. Browns Agriculture is renowned as being the first organization to introduce a walk behind tractor-1951 and a four wheel tractor in 1952 to the Sri Lankan Market.
In 2003, Brown & Company PLC was awarded with the TAFE tractor distributorship. In 2005 Browns Agriculture became the market leader in four wheel tractor segment and continued to be the market dominator with an undisputed market share to the present. Today, Browns Agriculture holds the leadership position not only in the retail sales but also in the corporate segment with a 90% market share.
The division have expanded its business into emerging markets such as combine harvesters, loader attachments, three wheel trucks, mini trucks, lubricants and other implements.
Further Browns Agriculture holds a well spread island wide distribution network comprise of more than 130 dealers, where 70% of them are exclusive dealers. This Strategic Business Unit (SBU)has taken steps to maintain the 3 ‘S’ concept (Sales, Service, Spare parts) in the premium dealer locations for the sake of delivering an elegant service to the customers.
Browns Agriculture firmly believes that to achieve lasting success in the industry, individual needs of the farmer community needs to be addressed. Hence its strategy has been built to enhance the product line by introducing products with features parallel to the needs of the customers in that specified market sector. At present it caters to all the segments in the market through a wide range of TAFE models.
In the combine harvester segment Browns Agriculture have captured a massive share in the market with a short time. Browns Agriculture holds the reputation for catering technologically most advanced products with best quality in the segment and have able to obtain a high aspiration value for the very reason. At present Browns Agriculture is the sole distributor in Sri Lanka for five different international combine harvester brands.
The SBU endeavors to commit an outstanding after sales services hence the brand equity in the industry is highly rely upon the quality of the services provided. Whereas Browns Agriculture have well known for its excellent track record for the best after sales services due to its uniqueness. Such unique services include Labor free door step services and mega service campaigns held as a courtesy service to the after warranty clients. The division is maintaining a highly skilled technical staff along with strong service network. The SBU also maintains service centers in key locations to strengthen the Service Network and also have furnished with strong spare parts network across the island ensuring convenient accessibility for spare parts.
